My better half and I built a beautiful home on a mountain and live quite peacefully. I love hiking, rollerblading, yoga, massage, swimming, surfing (though not that good!), chess, and I snowboard in the winter.
I am thrilled to journey through this learning experience with all of you. I will look to you for inspiration and hope to inspire many of you on your path for health and wellness! Cheers.
Journey On Reflection
I fail at making time everyday to meditate and truly relax the muscles of my body. I feel that this is a common occurrence for many. Well, I woke this morning and made time and I feel great. I gave up caffeine and coffee 5 years ago because of the negative effects it had on my body so to jump start my body in the morning I will typically spend 5-10 minutes stretching. My better half cannot and will not start his day without the jolt of a very large cup of coffee. I have always wondered why this has become such a popular ritual (no judgement by the way!). I started this morning with a Journey On relaxation exercise and I feel ready for the day. It was a short 15 minutes of total relaxation but just enough for me to feel energized and not tired. I can tell that it was long enough for a parasympathetic response and therefore I find myself hungry!
The mind-body connection is truly under your control if you make it so. I was able to visualize the blood from my belly slowly moving up to my shoulders and down to my hands like molasses. And so it did. I felt the warmth in my shoulders and then in my arms and then down to hands. I felt the subtle energy waves travel not only that path but through my entire being. I enjoyed this relaxation exercise so I continued with it to my legs. As I imagined my blood flowing down my legs and into my feet I was able to feel a tingling in the arches of my feet. It was beautiful!

Love & Light
Hi Stevi, great to meet another massage therapist in the class. It seems to me that we have a lot in common minus being MTs. I too like to hike, rollerblade, massage, and trying to get myself up on the snowboard during the winter. I myself find more fun in dancing, but that's just what I like to do for fun as well as many other things :) Even though we have only had one assignment I somehow feel connected to you, I'm not positive if it is because we both are massage therapists, or if it is because of your knowledge and understanding of how hard it is to be a massage therapist. I really hope that we can get to know eachother outside of the classroom and share our stories about massage therapy. As for the Journey on relaxation: man I felt the same way, definately am going to be making more time to medidate in the evening before I go to bed.

Hello Stevi,Great meeting you as well. Yes,i'm majoring in health & wellness. I use to work in sales for a nutrition store for 4 years. I'd say i'm more knowledgable when it comes to sports-nutrition. I'd like to eventually work with a major sports-nutrition company. I've posted a few video's on fb & youtube giving people some product education advice and i just got word from a rep from a company to post/write some reviews for their products. My mother is kinda've in the same field as you're with massage theraphy, she herself is an aesthetician although they deal more along the lines with skincare she has skilled in reiki as well. As for the Journey on relaxtion I really thought it's especially great for everyday use. For days you have a rough time with either a co-worker or boss or just having a bad day. It puts you in that relaxing type of effect to just forget about all the stressful things we may all encounter on a day to day basis.
